Tournament Fishing

If you have never done it you need to try it. It takes fishing to an entire new level. As we head into the summer tournament season you will read and hear about many tournaments in various regions with million of dollars up for grabs. That does not have to be your first venture into the tournament scene though. There are many regional and local clubs that throw smaller tournaments that you can cut your teeth on. More about bragging rights than jackpots and pools. Even in the big tournaments they have various divisions and pools you can enter. I personally fish the Bisbee Black and Blue in Cabo San Lucas they pride themselves as the “World’s Largest Marlin Tournament”. If you go across the board in all jackpots plus the tournament entrée and catch and release division it will run you aprox. $64,000 All In. You can also just enter the catch and release division for only $3,000. This particular tournament was started by a group of 6 teams with a purse of 10k in 1981 and has grown to $4,165,960 the largest payout in Sportfishing history.

Some teams stay in various regions and some travel the globe. People you know from other sports have embraced this incredible game. Jimmy Johnson from the ranks of college and professional Football now host tournaments he lends his name to. Michael Jordan has put to together a formidable team on his beautiful boat “Catch 23”.

You can follow individual teams and all the tournaments they fish or follow tournaments just google one like. www.themidatlantic.com they have live real time scoring etc…

The theme to all these tournaments is “you gotta to be in to win”
